Ray Bergman (1891-1967) was an avid trout fisherman and fly tyer from New York State. From owning and working at sporting goods stores, tying flies commercially, and writing about fishing, Bergman loved fishing more than anything. He wrote well, and for a time was the fishing editor of Outdoor Life magazine. In addition to fishing in his home waters of New York, Bergman traveled a lot on his fishing ventures, and wrote about fishing in places all over the country. His most popular book, “Trout”, remained in print for more than 50 years and is one of the most popular fishing books ever published.
