Included is the Mysteries of Heron Dyke by T. W. Speight, theFirst Edition of this Victorian horror, detective, mystery novel, complete as serialized in The Argosy magazine, Volumes XXIX & XXX from 1880; serialization preceded the later publication of the full novel.

The book also contains Poetry, About Norway, Plus Many More, including the anoymous ghost story "The Ghost of Aldrum Hall", later anthologized in the Wimbourne Book of Victorian Ghost Stories.


->> The Argosy was a magazine first founded by Alexander Strahan in 1865; it was taken over by Ellen Wood, pen name Mrs. Henry Wood, who became the editor until her death in 1887. Publication was ceased in 1901. Contributors included Anthony Trollope, Henrietta Keddie, Hesba Stretton, Julia Kavanagh and Christina Rossetti.

Mrs. Henry Wood (1814-1887) was an English novelist as well as the editor of this magazine, for which she contributed a great deal. Her books were widely read in both the United States and Australia, with her fame passing that of Charles Dickens in the latter.

These 1880 editions contain works by Charles Wood, Emma Rhodes, Charles Hervey, G. B. Stuart, Anne Beale, Johnny Ludlow, Sydney Grey, T. S. Cunningham, and Alice King.
