Rev. George Cubitt (1792-1850), English Wesleyan Methodist minister and historian. He entered the ministry in 1813, and was one of six missionaries sent to Newfoundland in 1816. Upon his return he became assistant to Thomas Jackson at the Methodist Book Room, and was his successor in 1842. "He was a meticulous editor of the works of others and a productive author himself," writing several biographies and historical works.
